Dr. Rebecca V. Fossel is a licensed clinical psychologist in private practice in Boulder, CO.  She also teaches and supervises doctoral students in clinical psychology at the University of Colorado.

Dr. Fossel earned her Ph.D. in 1997 from the University of Georgia.
She completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at the world-renowned Center for Cognitive Therapy at the University of
Pennsylvania where she worked with Aaron T. Beck, M.D., the founder
of cognitive therapy.  Dr. Fossel served as a research protocol
therapist in a clinical outcome study testing the effectiveness of cognitive therapy for borderline personality disorder.  She has experience and advanced training in treating mood disorders, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, posttraumatic stress disorder, and personality disorders, among other difficulties.

Dr. Fossel specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for adults and older adolescents with a wide variety of concerns.  She most frequently treats clients struggling with:
  • depression
  • anxiety
  • stressful life circumstances
  • difficulties stemming from past trauma or abuse

Dr. Fossel is committed to providing the highest quality care possible to her clients.  She regularly attends professional conferences and workshops to keep her knowledge of the most effective treatments up to date.  In recent years CBT has been expanding to include greater use of mindfulness and acceptance-based strategies.  As evidence supports their use, Dr. Fossel integrates the latest advances in effective psychotherapy into her work.
